On the Regional Radar for the Southwest, Southern parts of Arizona near Phoenix have a break from any precipitation, with clouds gradually clearing out. The focus is on rain is spreading southward along the California coastline from San Francisco down to Los Angeles, bringing much-needed moisture to the region. While the central valleys, including Fresno and Bakersfield, are also experiencing light showers, higher elevations towards the Sierra Nevada are receiving snow, adding to the snowpack. Farther east, Flagstaff is seeing snow flurries with a noticeable chill in the air, and Cedar City is also under cloud cover with similar light snowfall. Las Vegas continues to enjoy dry conditions under mostly clear skies.
Temperatures in Phoenix this afternoon reach 83 degrees at 3 PM, moving to 86 degrees by 5 PM and staying consistent at 86 degrees through 7 PM. Winds are from the south at 3 miles per hour initially, shifting to a west-southwest direction at 4 miles per hour before settling to a westerly flow at 4 miles per hour in the evening. The skies will be mostly sunny at 3 PM, becoming partly cloudy by 7 PM.
Let’s take a look at the regional high temperatures in the Southwest today. Phoenix is the warmest spot today, soaring to 88 degrees. In Los Angeles, we’re seeing a pleasant high of 72 degrees, while just a bit farther inland, Bakersfield tops out at 74. Over in the desert, Las Vegas is quite warm, with a high reaching 82 degrees. Moving to the more elevated areas, Flagstaff is notably cooler with a high of 61 degrees, and Cedar City experiences a similar vibe at 62.
The Southwest is experiencing a notable drop in temperatures as cold air settles in. Flagstaff bottoms out with a low of 36 degrees. Las Vegas is forecasted to see a low of 59, and Cedar City will cool down to 40. In the more temperate coastal areas, San Diego will have a mild low of 54 degrees, while Los Angeles is expected to drop to 53.
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow are shaping up to be quite warm. Phoenix is expected to soar to a hot 94 degrees, significantly above average for this time of year. In Las Vegas, anticipate a high of 87 degrees, also above the norm. Heading to California, Bakersfield will reach 86 degrees, while Fresno experiences temperatures around 83 degrees. Los Angeles will see a pleasant afternoon high of 82 degrees.
To the north, Reno will enjoy a mild 75 degrees, and San Francisco will be slightly cooler at 75 degrees. Overall, the warm air mass dominating the region is driving these higher temperatures, making for a summer-like feel across the area.
