The regional radar for the Southwest shows a mix of conditions. Flagstaff is expected to see light snow, along with chilly conditions typical for this time of year. Phoenix, on the other hand, remains dry.
Las Vegas, situated in the middle of the radar view, is dry, maintaining its desert climate, with no rain or storms predicted at the moment.
In Nevada, Reno is under clear conditions. Across the border in Utah, Cedar City is also dry.
In California, coastal areas like San Francisco are seeing showers moving inland, bringing some relief to this typically dry region. The central valleys, around Fresno and Bakersfield, are also experiencing rain, while higher elevations near Redding are likely seeing snowfall.
Meanwhile, southern areas like Los Angeles and San Diego are enjoying a calm evening with mild conditions and only a slight chance of drizzle near the coastal areas.
“Afternoon temperatures in Phoenix climb from 93 degrees at 3 PM to 97 degrees by 7 PM. Expect abundant sunshine throughout the afternoon, providing a clear and bright setting. Winds shift slightly from the southeast at 4 miles per hour to the west, maintaining a pleasant light breeze.”
Let’s look at those high temperatures across the Southwest today. In Las Vegas, it’s heating up nicely with a high of 90 degrees. Over in Phoenix, we’re feeling the warmth even more with a scorching high of 99. Heading north to Flagstaff, conditions are more mild at 71 degrees, while Cedar City reaches a comfortable 71 as well.
In California, Bakersfield is sizzling at 92 and Fresno is not far behind at 88. Meanwhile, San Diego sees a high of 72, which is a bit cooler by the coast.
Tonight, the Southwest region will experience some chilly temperatures as a cool air mass settles in. Flagstaff has a forecasted low of 39 degrees. Las Vegas will see a mild night compared to the region with a low of 63 degrees. In southern California, San Diego will stay warmer at 54 degrees, while Los Angeles is expected to drop to 53 degrees. Bakersfield will also be in the mid-50s with a low of 56 degrees. Lastly, Cedar City expects 48 degrees.
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow look to range widely, but many areas will see above-average readings as warm air continues to dominate.
Across Arizona, Phoenix is forecasted to reach a sizzling 93 degrees, while Flagstaff remains cooler at 68 degrees.
In Southern Nevada, Las Vegas will soar to a high of 91 degrees, making for a warm spring day.
California’s high temperatures will vary as well, with Bakersfield hitting 84 degrees and Los Angeles warming up to 64 degrees. San Diego will see a high of 63 degrees.
“On the Southwest futurecast, anticipate predominantly dry and clear conditions across the desert regions into tomorrow. However, coastal California should prepare for a persistent pattern of fog particularly affecting areas from Los Angeles to the Bay Area late Wednesday. Heavier rain bands are expected along the central coast, contributing to concerns over slick travel conditions. Otherwise a Spring like pattern is setting up out west.”
The UV index in Phoenix on Tuesday is high at 7, with a burn time of approximately 20 minutes in direct sunlight. On Wednesday, expect the same UV index of 7, maintaining the same quick burn time of 20 minutes.
