The Southwest region is currently experiencing diverse weather conditions. On the radar, rain is evident along the California coastline, providing essential moisture. Redding to San Francisco is experiencing light to moderate rain. Moving inward, rain also stretches towards Fresno and Bakersfield, while Los Angeles sees only a bit of light drizzle.
Up in the mountains, a mix of precipitation turns to snow, blanketing higher terrains. Cedar City is witnessing some light precipitation.
The rest of the region, including Las Vegas and Phoenix, remains generally dry. Some isolated rain showers are dancing around Flagstaff, where there’s a chill in the air, indicating the potential for sporadic snow. Across the majority of Utah and the rest of Nevada, skies remain clear.
In Los Angeles this afternoon, temperatures will hover around 63 degrees, dipping slightly to 62 degrees by 5 PM. Expect a blend of clouds and sunshine as the sky transitions from cloudy to partly cloudy. Winds will be coming from the south-southwest at a gentle pace of 8 to 10 miles per hour, maintaining the pleasant conditions.
In Las Vegas, we’re seeing a warm high of 75 degrees. Meanwhile, Phoenix is heating up significantly with a high of 83 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. Over in Ely, the temperatures are much cooler, reaching only 55 degrees. San Diego is pleasant today with a high of 63.
As we look farther north, Bakersfield enjoys a comfortable high of 68 degrees, and Fresno isn’t far behind at 69 degrees. In Flagstaff, temperatures are cooler at 57 degrees.
Tonight in the Southwest, we’re looking at some chilly conditions. Flagstaff dips to 29 degrees. Cedar City will drop to 31 degrees, creating a brisk evening for residents. Las Vegas will see a milder low of 54 degrees, but even there, the temperature has dipped compared to recent nights. Over in Southern California, Los Angeles and San Diego will stay on the warmer side with lows of 51 and 53 degrees, respectively. Meanwhile, Bakersfield will also cool down to 51 degrees.
“For tomorrow’s high temperatures in the Southwest, we’re seeing quite a mix. Phoenix will be the warmest with a high of 82 degrees, well above average for this time of year. Las Vegas will also enjoy a warm day, reaching 76 degrees. Moving to California, San Diego remains a bit cool at 63 degrees. Inland, Fresno and Bakersfield both are expected to hit 68 degrees, reflecting typical temperatures for the season. Up north in San Francisco, highs will be a bit chillier at 59 degrees. A ridge of high pressure is influencing these warmer trends in the region, especially in the southern areas.”
“On the Southwest futurecast, expect increased moisture moving into the region. In Southern California, scattered showers are predicted, particularly in the San Diego area, with heavier rain expected farther north toward Los Angeles. Central Arizona may experience a slight chance of thunderstorms as the system progresses eastward. As temperatures hover in the comfortable mid-60s range, be prepared for potentially wet and slick conditions on the highways, especially through mountain passes.”
The UV index in Los Angeles will be high both today and tomorrow, reaching a level of 7. Expect a burn time of approximately 20 minutes if exposed to direct sunlight.
