On the Regional Radar, rain is sweeping inland from the Pacific, making its way over Redding, bringing wet conditions and much-needed moisture. Along the California coastline, San Francisco and Fresno are experiencing rain as it progresses eastwards, promising relief from dry conditions. Southeast California is experiencing light rain moving inland, extending towards Arizona. This system is providing some much-needed rainfall relief to the desert area. Moving north, Reno is under cloudy skies, but rain hasn’t reached the ground just yet. Salt Lake City and Cedar City are experiencing clear conditions. Down south, Los Angeles and San Diego also enjoy more mild conditions with minimal cloud cover.
In Los Angeles this afternoon, temperatures will rise from 63 degrees at 4 PM to 61 degrees by 6 PM, settling at 59 degrees by 8 PM. Expect mostly cloudy skies throughout the afternoon with a steady southwest wind at 7 miles per hour.
Let’s take a look at today’s high temperatures across the Southwest. In Phoenix, it’s a sizzling day with a high of 95 degrees. Las Vegas is also warm, reaching 88 degrees, while the temperatures cool slightly in Ely with a high of just 66 degrees. Farther north in Cedar City, we see a mild 70 degrees, the same for Flagstaff today. Bakersfield is quite hot at 90 degrees, while San Diego remains cooler at 64 degrees, enjoying some marine influence.
Tonight, Flagstaff is expected to see freezing temperatures at 32 degrees. Las Vegas stays relatively mild at 64. Cedar City will cool down to 45 degrees. In the warmer zones, Phoenix and San Diego will have pleasant lows of 64 and 54 degrees, respectively. Bakersfield is at 55, while Los Angeles cools to 48. San Francisco is seeing a low of 52.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southwest are set to soar, with some cities seeing above-average readings. In Las Vegas, prepare for a hot day as temperatures leap to a blazing 88 degrees. Phoenix is even hotter, reaching a sizzling 93 degrees. Heading north, Ely will have a cooler day with a high of 66 degrees, while Cedar City will experience a pleasant 70 degrees. California sees a range of warm temperatures, with Fresno peaking at 82 degrees and Bakersfield slightly higher at 84 degrees. The coastal cities of San Diego and Los Angeles will be more mild, with highs of 64 and 63 degrees, respectively. San Francisco remains on the cooler side at 63 degrees.
The forecast for the Southwest indicates a mixed weather scenario over the next 24 to 48 hours. Expect clear and sunny conditions prevailing in the desert regions, offering relief from recent stormy patterns. However, parts of Northern California will experience several rounds of valley rain, impacting areas around Sacramento with potential for slick roads. Southern California, particularly the San Bernardino Valley, will see another bout of showers accompanied by heavy rain. Anticipate challenging driving conditions over mountain passes with slippery roads and reduced visibility. Stay alert for any severe weather advisories that might be issued.
