In the Southwest region, the radar shows rain showers pushing eastward from California, reaching from San Francisco through the Central Valley cities like Fresno and Bakersfield. Light Snow is present over the Sierra Nevada Mountains, with Ely experiencing some snowfall as well. Cedar City is seeing a mix of rain and snow, while the Wasatch Front Mountains have scattered snow showers. Las Vegas and Phoenix remain dry under clear skies as the weather system skirts around. San Diego and Los Angeles are enjoying calm conditions with no rainfall.
In Salt Lake City this evening, expect cloudy skies transitioning to a few showers by 11 PM. Temperatures will gradually dip from 50 degrees at 9 PM to 47 degrees by 1 AM. Winds will be light, coming from the southeast, between 6 to 8 mph.
Tonight Flagstaff will see a low of 33 degrees, while Ely will drop to 37. Las Vegas will remain milder at 63, contrasting with cooler spots like Cedar City at 46. Los Angeles will wrap up the evening at 56 degrees, and San Diego is forecasted to match that with a low of 56 as well.
Tomorrow Phoenix is set to hit 91 degrees, while Las Vegas is forecasted to reach 87 degrees. In California, Bakersfield and Fresno will see highs of 87 and 86 degrees respectively. Los Angeles is expected to have a pleasant day with a high of 73 degrees, and San Diego will stay slightly cooler at 69 degrees.
A calm weather day is forecasted for the desert areas of the Southwest, bringing clear and sunny conditions. However, along the California coast, be prepared for a system bringing rain to Northern California, progressing from Tuesday into Wednesday. Southern California, particularly around the San Bernardino Valley, expects periods of heavy rain tomorrow, which could result in challenging driving conditions through higher elevations. Watch for rain bands moving through, which could also bring down visibility briefly. Temperatures will remain stable, so there are no extreme shifts expected in the near term.
The UV index in Salt Lake City on Wednesday is moderate at 4, presenting a burn time of about 35 minutes in direct sunlight, especially if clouds clear. By Thursday, the UV index rises significantly to 8, which means a faster burn time of just 17 minutes.
