On the Regional Radar, the Southwest is experiencing a blend of conditions. Along the California coast, rain showers from San Francisco to Los Angeles offer some moisture to the region. The central California Valleys, including Fresno and Bakersfield, are also seeing light rain. Snow is impacting higher elevations, particularly around Redding and farther up in the mountains.
In Nevada, Ely is under cloudy conditions with snow showers mainly impacting the areas farther north. Moving east, Cedar City is facing light snow showers.
The skies over Las Vegas are clear. Flagstaff is chilly with a possibility of light snow showers in the vicinity. Meanwhile, southern regions like San Diego remain mild.
In Salt Lake City tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies transitioning to partly cloudy as the evening progresses. At 8 PM, temperatures will be around 41 degrees with a northwesterly breeze at 8 miles per hour. As the night advances to 10 PM, temperatures will lower to 37 degrees with winds shifting to the east-southeast at 6 miles per hour. By midnight, anticipate a temperature drop to 35 degrees with a gentle southeast wind at 6 miles per hour.
Tonight in the Southwest, we’re experiencing some significant temperature drops. Expect a chilly 28 degrees in Reno and even colder at 21 in Ely. Over in Cedar City, temperatures will dip to 25 degrees. Las Vegas is forecasted to reach a low of 43 degrees, while Flagstaff is set to see a brisk 22 degrees. Moving west, San Francisco will have a low of 45, and further south, Los Angeles is also looking at 45 degrees. In San Diego, it’s going to be slightly warmer at 50 degrees.
For high temperatures tomorrow across the Southwest, we’re seeing a varied landscape. In Southern California, San Diego is forecasted to reach a high of 60 degrees, while Los Angeles will warm up slightly to 64 degrees. Up in the central region, Fresno and Bakersfield are expected to have highs around 61 degrees.
As we move toward the desert areas, Las Vegas will experience a high of 57 degrees, significantly milder than usual. Meanwhile, Phoenix is looking to warm to 64 degrees. As for the northern elevations, Ely is notably cooler with a high of only 37 degrees, while further south in Cedar City, highs will reach about 40 degrees.
The overall trend shows temperatures hovering below average in many areas, especially in the northern parts of the region, influenced by cooler air masses. Be prepared for these mild conditions as we head into the day.
For the Southwest, expect clear and sunny conditions dominating the desert regions. However, along the coast, anticipate a series of weather shifts. Northern California is in for several rounds of valley rain, moving deeper through Tuesday into Wednesday. Watch for heavy rain in the San Bernardino Valley, which could lead to slick road conditions over mountain passes. Stay cautious and prepared for any changes, especially toward midweek.
The UV index in Salt Lake City will be moderate on Tuesday, reaching a value of 4, indicating a burn time of about 35 minutes in direct sunlight. On Wednesday, the UV index increases to 6, with sun protection becoming more crucial as burn time decreases to just 23 minutes.
