A significant weather system is impacting the Southwest today. From the radar overview, we see precipitation mainly across the Sierra Nevada range. Redding and Reno are encountering rain showers, while snow is falling in the higher elevations, particularly around Reno. Meanwhile, Las Vegas remains under clear conditions, enjoying a break from any precipitation, similar to cities farther south like Phoenix and San Diego.
Cloud cover is increasing near the coast, where San Francisco and Fresno are seeing rain as well. Snow is also affecting Flagstaff, contributing to the wintry atmosphere. Los Angeles and San Diego enjoy more mild conditions with minimal moisture, while storm activity is concentrated more toward the northern and central stretches of California. These dynamic weather shifts bring much-needed precipitation to parts of California, impacting varying elevations with unique weather conditions.
For the afternoon hours in Phoenix, temperatures are rising, reaching 88 degrees by 3 PM and climbing to 91 degrees by 5 PM. Expect mostly cloudy skies early in the afternoon, transitioning to partly cloudy conditions as the day progresses. For California there`s a big shift in the weather today as the record breaking heat is over and much cooler temperatures return. Several rounds of rain are in the forecast over the next 7 days as we enter a more disturbed pattern. Over coastal regions, Northern California faces repeated rounds of drizzle and valley rain. Southern California, mostly dry and occasionally breezy conditions are expected through the rest of the week.”
