The Southwest region is experiencing a dynamic range of weather conditions. On the radar, rain showers are making their way through northern California, bringing some relief to the Redding area and peppering the San Francisco region with precipitation. As we travel farther inland, Reno is also seeing a mix of rain.
Over in southern Nevada, Las Vegas continues to enjoy dry conditions amidst the surrounding activity.
In southern California, there’s a light drizzle near the coastline, especially around the Los Angeles area, yet the skies remain largely clear as San Diego stays dry. To the northeast, Flagstaff is dealing with a chill in the air, with potential for snow showers that might add a fresh layer of white to the already scenic landscapes.
Salt Lake City will experience a cloudy afternoon with temperatures gradually decreasing from 58 degrees at 3 PM to 56 degrees by 7 PM. Winds will start out of the northwest at 10 miles per hour, increasing slightly to 11 miles per hour by 5 PM before settling back to an 8 miles per hour breeze.
Let’s take a look at the high temperatures across the Southwest today.
In Las Vegas, it’s a warm day with a high reaching 75 degrees, while Phoenix basks in warmth at 83 degrees, showcasing some sunshine. On the California coast, San Diego is a bit cooler at 63 degrees, as Los Angeles experiences a slightly milder 64 degrees. Heading north, Bakersfield checks in at a pleasant 68 degrees, and Fresno is a bit warmer at 69 degrees.

Temperatures will hover around 51 degrees in both Fresno and Bakersfield.
High temperatures for the Southwest region tomorrow look to be well above average, as warm air dominates the area.
In Las Vegas, expect a high of 76 degrees, providing comfortable conditions for outdoor activities. Meanwhile, Phoenix sizzles with a high of 82 degrees, well above typical readings for this time of year. Heading towards the California coast, Los Angeles will see a mild high of 65 degrees, while San Diego stays slightly cooler at 63 degrees.

“On the Southwest futurecast, anticipate a clear and sunny period for the desert regions, bringing warm and dry conditions. However, coastal areas of Northern California should prepare for multiple rounds of valley rain into Saturday. In the higher elevations, snow is likely to impact areas from the Sierra Nevada to far Northern California, potentially causing hazardous travel over mountain passes. Southern California will largely remain dry, with more mild conditions prevailing throughout. Keep an eye for slick roads due to rain, especially near the San Francisco Bay Area.”
The UV index in Salt Lake City is low at 2 on both Friday and Saturday, with cloud cover and potential storms reducing sun exposure.
