The Regional Radar paints an intriguing picture for the Southwest. A storm system is making its way across Northern California, centered around Redding, bringing some welcome rain to the region. Areas farther south like San Francisco and Fresno are experiencing scattered showers, providing a much-needed respite for the parched landscape. In the higher elevations, snow is falling, especially in and around Flagstaff. This provides a chilly touch to the area’s otherwise dry conditions. Bakersfield’s weather remains clear for now, while in Ely, Nevada, we see clouds gathering, although precipitation is not yet significant. In Arizona, Phoenix is clear, and to the northeast, Cedar City is on watch as clouds may bring light rain. Las Vegas, nestled in its desert enclave, stays dry and calm. As you move west, Reno experiences a mix of rain and cloudy conditions, keeping an eye on potential shifts in precipitation patterns.
In Salt Lake City this evening, temperatures begin at 69 degrees at 9 PM, dropping to 62 degrees by 11 PM, and further down to 57 degrees by 1 AM. Expect mostly cloudy skies throughout the evening. Winds are from the north-northwest at 10 to 11 miles per hour, adding a brisk feel to the evening air.
Tonight Reno sees a low of 36 degrees. Cedar City is expected to see a low of 34, while Las Vegas will cool down to 61 degrees. In Arizona, Flagstaff is forecasted to drop to 35 degrees. Meanwhile, Phoenix remains much warmer, with temperatures staying around 68 degrees. Southern California cities are also cooling down, with Los Angeles expecting a low of 49 degrees and San Diego around 51.
In Arizona, Phoenix is set to soar to a high of 93 degrees, while Flagstaff will be much cooler, reaching 70. Over in Nevada, Las Vegas anticipates a hot afternoon with a high of 89 degrees, particularly above seasonal norms. California cities are also feeling the heat. Bakersfield and Fresno will both hit 83 degrees, adding to the warm trend. Los Angeles will enjoy a mild day with highs around 70 degrees, and San Diego will warm to 68. For those in Utah, Cedar City is expected to reach 67 degrees.
For the Southwest tomorrow, expect increasing cloud cover and rain showers to spread from Southern California toward Nevada during the day. Rainfall may be heaviest in southern California, creating slippery roads, especially over mountain passes and coastal areas. Temperatures will remain seasonably cool with highs in the mid-60s. By evening, look for possible thunderstorms intensifying in southwestern Arizona as an incoming cold front advances. Be prepared for occasional gusty winds and reduced visibility.
The UV index in Salt Lake City is expected to reach a moderate level of 6 on both Saturday and Sunday, with a burn time of around 23 minutes under direct sunlight.
Here’s your 7-day forecast for Salt Lake City: Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a high of 74 degrees and a low of 45. Sunday: Clear skies with temperatures reaching a high of 59 degrees and a low of 37. Monday: Another clear day with a high of 67 degrees, cooling to 43 at night. Tuesday: Clouds early with clearing later, with temperatures reaching a high of 71 degrees and a low of 51.
