Across the Southwest, the regional radar reveals an engaging mix of weather conditions. Let’s start with Northern California, where rain showers are moving inland from the Pacific Ocean, bringing precipitation to coastal cities like San Francisco and as far inland as Redding. These showers extend into the central valleys, offering much-needed relief. In the higher elevations, Reno is on the brink of seeing some light snow, complementing the rain at lower altitudes.
Cedar City shares a similar fate, standing clear of precipitation. Over in Arizona, Flagstaff is on the cusp of seeing light snow showers, bringing a chill to the air. Farther south, Phoenix and Las Vegas are both basking in dry conditions, with skies remaining clear.
Southern California, including major cities like Los Angeles and San Diego, enjoys mild weather with no significant weather disruptions. Californian coasts offer a light drizzle.
For this evening in Salt Lake City, plan for a cloudy sky with temperatures gradually cooling. At 8 PM, it will be 70 degrees with a southerly wind at 14 miles per hour. By 10 PM, expect temperatures to dip to 65 degrees, as winds slow to 13 miles per hour. At midnight, temperatures will further cool to 60 degrees with a shift to a west wind at 8 miles per hour.
Tonight in the Southwest, the temperatures are taking a notable dip as we head into the early morning hours Flagstaff dips to 30. Las Vegas will drop to 51 degrees, and Cedar City is expected to settle at 34. In contrast, Phoenix remains relatively warmer at 59 degrees. Across California, San Francisco will cool down to 46, Bakersfield at 49, and Los Angeles will end the night around 48 degrees.
High temperatures for the Southwest on March 28th are showcasing a significant warm-up across the region. In Phoenix, expect a high of 84 degrees, which is notably above average for this time of year. Las Vegas will see a high of 75 degrees, also above the seasonal norm.
Moving to Southern California, Bakersfield reaches 75 degrees as well, while Fresno warms up to 70 degrees. Los Angeles is looking at a comfortable high of 63 degrees and San Diego will hit 62 degrees, both slightly below average.
Farther north, San Francisco is on the cooler side at 59 degrees. Ely will experience highs of 55 degrees, along with Cedar City sharing similar temperatures.
“A cold front is projected to move into the Southwest, bringing cooler temperatures and a chance of rain showers to areas farther inland. Northern and Central Arizona should prepare for potential thunderstorms overnight into Friday. In Southern California, expect continued scattered showers along the coast, creating wet conditions during the morning commute. Eastern areas, including Nevada, should stay alert for cloudy skies with intermittent rain.”
The UV index in Salt Lake City will be moderate today at 5, with a burn time of approximately 27 minutes in direct sunlight. As we move into Friday, cloud cover will reduce the UV exposure to a low level of 3, mitigating sunburn risks significantly.
