On the Regional Radar, we can see a band of rain pushing inland across the California coastline, delivering much-needed moisture to the region. Redding and San Francisco are receiving consistent rain showers, with precipitation spreading into the central valleys including Fresno and Bakersfield. Higher elevations near Reno are experiencing snow, bringing a wintry mix as we move farther east. Los Angeles and San Diego are seeing lighter rain. Flagstaff is bracing for chilly conditions with some potential snow showers, while Las Vegas and Phoenix remain dry under clearer skies.
Salt Lake City this afternoon experiences temperatures steady in the low 50s, reaching 54 degrees by 5 PM. Winds shift from SSW at 10 miles per hour, easing slightly to WSW at 6 miles per hour by evening.
First, let’s take a look at the regional high temperatures today in the Southwest. Phoenix is heating up with a high of 83 degrees, perfect for outdoor activities. Over in Las Vegas, residents can expect a warm day with a high of 78. Meanwhile, in San Diego, temperatures are slightly cooler, reaching 64 degrees, providing a mild coastal vibe. Ely, Nevada, will see a substantially cooler day with a high of just 53 degrees, while Flagstaff lags behind at 56. It’s a notable temperature contrast as we move from the desert heat in Phoenix to the mountain chill in Ely.
Tonight in the Southwest, we’re expecting some chilly temperatures. Ely, Nevada will see a frigid drop to 24 degrees. In Cedar City, expect a low of 30 degrees, while Flagstaff will feel the cold with a low of 33. Las Vegas will be relatively warmer at 53 degrees, and Los Angeles will wrap up the day at a mild 50 degrees. In the northern part of the region, Redding will drop to 42 degrees. Overall, prepare for a notably brisk night as cold air settles in.
