With temperature fluctuations and a moderate to high UV index, it’s a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors but also to keep your rain gear handy for unexpected weather shifts. A line of rain showers is sweeping across the Sierra Nevada mountains heading towards Reno and Ely, bringing wet conditions to the region. Bakerfield and Fresno are experiencing calm weather despite some clouds in their vicinity. Redding is seeing light showers coming from the north, transitioning over from the coastal range. Salt Lake City and Flagstaff remain mostly dry under clear skies. Coastal regions, including Los Angeles and San Diego, benefit from largely clear and dry conditions, providing a nice respite from any precipitation. In Salt Lake City this evening, temperatures will start at 75 degrees at 9 PM with northwest winds at 8 mph and partly cloudy skies. By 11 PM, the temperature will drop to 70 degrees as winds shift northeast at 6 mph under mostly cloudy conditions. By 1 AM, expect a temperature of 65 degrees with east-northeast winds at 6 mph and partly cloudy skies reappearing. Tonight Las Vegas will be mild at 70 degrees, while Phoenix is a bit warmer at 71. Flagstaff plunges to 40 degrees, alongside Ely also at 40 degrees. Heading to the coast, San Diego will cool slightly to 58 degrees, and Los Angeles will see a low of 55. Expect Fresno to settle at 56 degrees overnight. High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southwest are set to be well above average, especially in the desert regions. Phoenix will sizzle at a scorching 98 degrees, while Las Vegas reaches a warm 95. Los Angeles will experience milder conditions at 68 degrees, with San Diego staying cooler at 68 as well. Bakersfield is forecasted to hit 90 degrees, and Fresno will not be far behind at 88. Expect a mostly clear and sunny day across the Southwest tomorrow, with the desert regions enjoying persistent sunshine. However, a disturbance moving along the northern California coast will bring periods of rain to areas including San Francisco and Sacramento. Rain could intensify, causing tricky travel conditions especially along the coastal and mountain routes. An isolated storm can’t be ruled out in the higher elevations but no severe weather is expected. Temperatures will remain moderate across the region with cool, breezy conditions near the coast.
