Hello from Los Angeles! This week, the weather looks promising with clear skies and beautiful mornings, though there’s a mix of different patterns across the Southwest region. We’re seeing rain in coastal areas, snow in mountain regions, and cloudy mornings becoming sunny afternoons. In the Southwest region, the radar shows a beautiful variety of weather conditions. A band of rain is pushing inland from the Pacific Ocean, bringing much-needed moisture to coastal regions like San Francisco and Los Angeles, where light showers are welcomed. The Sierra Nevada mountains, including areas around Reno and Ely, are experiencing light snow. As we look farther inland, Redding is also experiencing showers, which are moving in a northeasterly direction. The central California valleys, including Fresno and Bakersfield, are receiving rain, offering relief from dry conditions. Conversely, southern Nevada cities like Las Vegas remain dry. Clear skies prevail over much of Arizona, with Phoenix and Flagstaff.
For your Tuesday morning in Los Angeles, anticipate a mix of clouds. Temperatures start around 50 degrees at 7 AM with a gentle west-northwest wind at 6 miles per hour. By 9 AM, expect partly cloudy skies as temperature dips to 49 degrees, with winds shifting to the northwest at 5 miles per hour. As we move to 11 AM, temperatures reach 53 degrees under mostly cloudy conditions, with the northwest wind increasing to 9 miles per hour.
Here’s the regional high temperature rundown for the Southwest this Tuesday: Phoenix will see a warm high of 74 degrees, reflecting slightly above-average temperatures for this time of year. Las Vegas reaches a high of 66 degrees, which is also a bit above the seasonal norm. In California, Los Angeles will hit 66 degrees, while San Diego enjoys a mild 60 degrees. Bakersfield warms up to 61 degrees, and Fresno is slightly cooler at 55 degrees. San Francisco remains on the chilly side with highs around 56 degrees, due to coastal influences. Up in Nevada, Ely sees a cooler day with a high of just 40 degrees.
For the Southwest, expect a mix of rain and snow over the mountain regions of California and Nevada due to a robust storm system. On Monday evening, rain showers are anticipated to linger, with snow accumulating in higher elevations, particularly the Sierra Nevada. California’s central valleys may experience heavy rain, which could lead to slick roads and challenging travel conditions. Look for a more mild weather pattern to develop southward into Arizona by Tuesday, with mostly dry conditions and temperatures rising modestly. The coastal areas of Southern California could see scattered rain showers, transitioning to clearer skies moving farther into the week.
The UV index in Los Angeles will be moderate on Monday with a value of 5, carrying a burn time of approximately 27 minutes in direct sunlight. For Tuesday, the UV index rises to a higher level of 7, meaning you’ll have about 20 minutes before sun exposure could lead to a burn.
Monday: Partly cloudy with a high of 63 degrees and a low of 47 degrees. Tuesday: Similar day ahead, partly cloudy skies, high of 64 degrees, and a low of 49 degrees. Wednesday: Expect mostly clear conditions with temperatures reaching up to 60 degrees during the day and cooling down to 47 at night.
