In the Southeast region, a line of severe storms is traveling from the Gulf of Mexico toward the Northeast. This storm system is bringing heavy rain and potential thunderstorms from New Orleans to Birmingham, with Montgomery directly in its path. Showers are trailing behind the main storm, affecting areas like Houston and Jackson. Nashville is currently seeing rain moving in from the south. Jacksonville and Tampa are experiencing scattered showers, while the Carolinas, including Charlotte, are under cloudy skies with rain expected soon.
Temperatures in Atlanta this evening will be in the 60s, starting at 63 degrees at 9 PM and cooling to 60 degrees by 1 AM. Expect thunderstorms around 9 PM, transitioning to showers by 11 PM, with a chance of clearing to partly cloudy skies later. Winds will shift from the west-southwest at 9 miles per hour to a westerly direction at 6 miles per hour. Keep an umbrella handy if you’re heading out tonight.

A cold front brings storms from New Orleans to Atlanta tomorrow morning, with heavy rain and gusty winds possible, particularly impacting the morning commute. Watch for isolated thunderstorms stretching from Montgomery to Jacksonville. Rainfall could exceed an inch, potentially triggering flash flooding in low-lying areas. Post-frontal conditions usher in cooler temperatures with clearing skies by Saturday evening for regions including Savannah and Tampa. Coastal areas, especially around Miami, should remain mostly dry with occasional showers.
