This week, Austin enjoys partly cloudy skies with warm temperatures reaching up to 85 degrees. However, as we scan across the Southern Plains, the weather narrative broadens — snow in southern Colorado, rains in Oklahoma, and clear skies in Albuquerque. Tonight, temperatures vary widely, with some cities experiencing sharp drops. Moreover, looking towards tomorrow, the forecast predicts warmer temperatures but also anticipates potential thunderstorms extending from Dallas to Corpus Christi. Across the Southern Plains, we see a diverse weather pattern unfolding on the radar. The higher elevations near the southern Colorado border are experiencing snowfall, which is typical for this time of year, bringing with it gusty winds that can reach up to 75 miles per hour through the mountain passes. In the Oklahoma panhandle, there is light rain developing, adding a touch of wet weather to the region. Meanwhile, as we move farther east, the lower Mississippi Delta is seeing rain showers form as a storm system begins to take shape. West of these rainy conditions, areas like Albuquerque, El Paso, and Midland remain under clear skies, enjoying a quiet weather day.
This afternoon in Austin, temperatures rise to a warm 85 degrees by 5 PM. Enjoy sunny skies throughout the afternoon with winds steadily coming from the south at 10 to 13 miles per hour. Keep those sunglasses handy as the sun continues to shine bright into the evening.
Let’s take a look at today’s high temperatures across the Southern Plains. In El Paso, we’re expecting a warm high of 82 degrees, while Midland sees even warmer conditions with a high of 88 degrees. Dallas will reach a comfortable 83 degrees, and further to the south in San Antonio, the temperature will climb to 87 degrees. Over in Corpus Christi, expect a high of 79 degrees. Little Rock will experience a slightly cooler day at 75 degrees, with Jackson coming in at 79.
Low temperatures in the Southern Plains are dipping significantly tonight as cold air moves through the region. Oklahoma City will see a low of 42 degrees, while Dallas is expected to drop to 52.
