A broad swath of precipitation is sweeping across the Southwest region, particularly affecting the areas around Salt Lake City and Ely, with rain showers intensifying in these locales. Reno is experiencing a mix of rain and some snow in the higher elevations. Ely shows scattered rain showers across portions of eastern Nevada. The Las Vegas metropolitan area remains dry for now, while Cedar City is also seeing light rain. Meanwhile, coastal cities such as San Francisco and Los Angeles are currently under clear conditions.
This evening in Salt Lake City, temperatures will start at 64 degrees at 9 PM, dipping to 58 degrees by 1 AM. Expect mostly cloudy skies throughout the evening with a light northwest wind at 9 MPH, shifting to the north at 8 MPH by 11 PM, and then north-northeast at 5 MPH by 1 AM.
Tonight in the Southwest, expect some chilly temperatures as a cold air pattern settles in. Ely will drop to a brisk 30 degrees, while Flagstaff sees a low of 32. Las Vegas is looking at a cooler 59 degrees. In southern California, Los Angeles will cool down to 55 and San Diego will end the night at 54. Phoenix remains relatively mild at 60 degrees, but still cooler than recent nights.
High temperatures in the Southwest region are generally above average for tomorrow. In San Francisco, expect a pleasant 77 degrees, while Fresno will reach a warm 82 degrees. Bakersfield will experience even higher temps, climbing to 84 degrees. Meanwhile, Las Vegas is set for a comfortable 66 degrees, and Phoenix will warm up to a toasty 71 degrees.
A weakening system will slide across Arizona and New Mexico tomorrow, delivering isolated thunderstorms and scattered showers. Thunderstorm activity may peak in the afternoon, bringing some gusty winds. Across the desert regions, temperatures will stay relatively warm, reaching into the mid-80s by afternoon. The weather will remain clear and sunny along the coastal areas but keep alert for isolated showers continuing into the evening over the higher terrain. Dry conditions will prevail in the western part of Texas, fostering warmer than average temperatures around the higher 80s.
The UV index in Salt Lake City is expected to be 5 on Sunday, with a burn time of approximately 27 minutes in direct sunlight. On Monday, the index rises to 6, suggesting a quicker burn time of 23 minutes.
Sunday: Partly cloudy with a pleasant high of 70 degrees and a low of 49 degrees. Monday: Thunderstorms early with a bit of a chill, high of 60 degrees and a low of 46 degrees. Tuesday: Partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching 58 degrees during the day and cooling to 44 at night. Wednesday: Clear skies dominate with a high of 68 degrees and a low of 49 degrees. Thursday: Enjoy bright, clear weather as temperatures warm to 77 degrees and dip to 52 at night. Friday: Partly cloudy skies as temperatures climb to a high of 81 degrees and a comfortable low of 54 degrees. Saturday: Partly cloudy again, rounding off the week with a warm high of 84 degrees and a low of 57 degrees.
