A robust storm system impacts the Upper Midwest, with Minneapolis seeing a wave of heavy rain and thunderstorms, which could affect travel. Watch for severe storms in the Heartland. The Pacific Northwest, including Seattle, is experiencing scattered showers. Across the south Dallas and Houston in Texas remain dry but should stay vigilant as cloudy conditions could develop. A late week tropical system out of the gulf cannot be ruled out. After horrible flooding on the 95 corridor, light rain remains for Washington, D.C. Atlanta remains dry for now but with increasing cloud cover.
Today, temperatures across the country show significant variation. In the Southwest, Phoenix is blazing at 104 degrees, making it the hottest city today, while Los Angeles remains cooler at 71 degrees. Over to the Southeast, Atlanta heats up to 93 degrees, a stark contrast to cooler spots like Washington, D.C. at 87 degrees. In the Midwest, Chicago sits at a mild 91 degrees, while Minneapolis warms up to a comfortable 91 as well, showcasing a warm summer day across the region.
Now for the low temperatures across the U.S. tomorrow morning. The Midwest will experience a chilly start, with Minneapolis dropping to 50 degrees and Chicago at 70 degrees, while Kansas City is a bit warmer at 71. The Midwest can expect a significant drop in temperatures as a cold front sweeps through, bringing heavy rainfall and gusty winds from Kansas City to Chicago. Over in the Southeast, cities like Dallas and Atlanta need to keep an eye on the sky for potential severe thunderstorms, with risks of high winds and localized flooding as this front moves eastward. The Northeast, from New York to Washington, will see periods of rain, particularly during the day, likely impacting travel. On the West Coast, while sunny weather persists in Los Angeles, rain showers are predicted for Seattle, as another front moves through the area.
