A vigorous storm system is making its presence felt today, stretching from the Midwest through the South. From Oklahoma City to Dallas, areas are dealing with bouts of heavy rain, leading to travel disruptions and possible flash flooding. In the Upper Midwest, Minneapolis is experiencing thunderstorms with substantial rain. Heading east, New York City and Washington D.C. brace for rain, with potential increasing throughout the afternoon. The Pacific Northwest, including Seattle, remains dry, offering a respite from recent rains.
Today, the heat is relentless across much of the South. Phoenix is leading the pack at a blistering 104 degrees, while Dallas reaches a warm 83. In the Southeast, Tampa is steamy at 91 degrees, and Atlanta enjoys a pleasant 85. In contrast, the Midwestern states are feeling cooler, with Chicago remaining at just 71 degrees.
Now for the low temperatures tomorrow morning. In the Midwest, Minneapolis will wake to a cool 58 degrees while Chicago is slightly warmer at 58 as well. Heading down south, Atlanta will see a low of 64 degrees, with Dallas a bit milder at 73 degrees. Moving to the West Coast, Los Angeles starts the day at 67 degrees, while San Francisco will be cooler at 58 degrees.
Tomorrow, high temperatures across the region will be largely above average, with many cities experiencing notable warmth. Dallas is set to reach a sizzling 83 degrees, while Houston will warm up to 91 degrees, reflecting a trend of elevated temperatures. In Atlanta, expect a pleasant high of 80 degrees, and further south, Tampa will see a toasty 90 degrees, indicative of the continued heat influence from a high-pressure system. Coastal cities like San Francisco will remain cooler at 77 degrees, providing some respite from the warmth inland.
