From the Northwest, Seattle’s radar shows a clear day, providing a pleasant break, while over in Billings, conditions remain serene as well. It’s a different story moving towards the Rockies where Denver is under a mix of rain and wind, bringing cooler temperatures and damp conditions throughout the area.
In the Central U.S., Oklahoma City is the focal point with heavy rain and potential thunderstorms, raising concerns for flash flooding. Similarly, Kansas City is enduring steady rain, impacting daily activities and travel plans.
Heading north to Minneapolis, significant rainfall continues, accompanied by potential thunder, making for a challenging day. Chicago is experiencing heavy rain, which could affect evening commutes and outdoor activities.
In the Southeast, Tampa faces scattered rain but should remain vigilant as conditions could become heavier. Atlanta is witnessing a brewing storm with increasing thunderstorm activity, impacting potentially local flights and evening activities.
The East Coast remains relatively mild, with New York and Washington, D.C. escaping major wet weather today, enjoying a brief respite. Down South in Texas, Dallas and Houston are seeing dry conditions for now but should be on alert for possible changes.
Today, high temperatures across the nation reveal striking contrasts. In the Southwest, Phoenix is blazing at 96 degrees, making it the hottest city of the day. Los Angeles is significantly cooler at 68 degrees, showcasing a stark temperature divide. Heading east, Dallas hits a warm 89 degrees, alongside Houston sharing the same high.
In the Southeast, temperatures are warm and inviting as Atlanta reaches 87 degrees, just shy of Tampa’s steamy 88. The Northeast remains somewhat milder, with Washington, D.C. at 83 degrees and New York not far behind at 79 degrees. The Midwest presents a cooler forecast; Chicago sits at 88 degrees, while Kansas City is also warm, enjoying similar highs. Denver remains the outlier in the Rockies, only warming up to a cool 56 degrees today.
Now for the low temperatures tomorrow morning across the U.S. In the Northeast, expect a chilly start with Boston at 34 degrees and New York slightly warmer at 39 degrees. Moving to the Midwest, Chicago will wake up to 53 degrees, while Minneapolis drops to 50 degrees. Kansas City sees a low of 62 degrees, and further south, Dallas remains mild at 72 degrees. The Southeast will have Atlanta starting the day at 66 degrees, with New Orleans a bit warmer at 76. Out West, Seattle will see a low of 53, while Los Angeles holds steady at 60 degrees. Temperatures in the northern regions will be more brisk, but no locations are expected to dip below freezing.
Tomorrow, we’ll see warm temperatures across the region, with many areas trending above average. Houston is expected to hit 89 degrees, while Dallas will also reach a warm 81 degrees. Over in New Orleans, temperatures are forecasted to soar to 88 degrees, which is significantly above the norm for early June. Atlanta will enjoy a pleasant 83 degrees, maintaining seasonal warmth. In the East, Washington, D.C. is set for a high of 88 degrees, providing a taste of summer as its temperatures mirror the higher readings seen across the Southeast.
A cold front sweeps across the central U.S., bringing a batch of strong thunderstorms from Kansas City to Atlanta over the next 48 hours. Expect heavy rainfall with the potential for severe weather, including high winds and localized flooding, especially in the southern Plains. The Midwest, encompassing areas like Minneapolis and Chicago, will see showers as colder air trails the front. In the Northeast, from New York to Washington, rain showers persist, potentially impacting travel with slick roads. Out West, San Francisco and Los Angeles enjoy mostly clear skies, but Seattle should prepare for rain showers under the influence of a Pacific system. Watch for weather updates in these dynamic conditions, especially where severe storms are predicted.
