On the national radar, we start with the West Coast where moderate rain is present along the California coastline, particularly impacting San Francisco with much-needed showers. The Sierra Nevada mountains are seeing snow, which is beneficial for the snowpack levels. Los Angeles remains dry for now. Heading inland, light rain is over Denver, providing a damp day for the Mile High City. Moving across the northern Rockies, snowfall is impacting the higher elevations near Billings. As the system progresses eastward, a swath of snow stretches from the Dakotas straight across to Minneapolis, contributing to a winter wonderland effect. The central part of the nation, including Kansas City and Oklahoma City, is dry, experiencing clear conditions today. In the Midwest through to the mid-Atlantic, from Chicago to Washington D.C., the weather is calm with widely scattered clouds. However, as we move to the Northeast, a significant weather system is sweeping through. New York City and nearby areas are under the influence of a rain and snow mix, with northern parts experiencing heavier snow, making travel challenging. Seattle, while generally wet, is only seeing light rain, maintaining the typical damp weather pattern.
Today’s high temperatures across America reveal some interesting contrasts and warm-ups. In the Northeast, New York reaches a comfortable 61 degrees, while Washington, D.C. experiences slightly warmer conditions at 66 degrees. Moving to the Midwest, Minneapolis is on the cooler side with a high of just 56 degrees, making it a chilly day compared to Chicago, which warms up to 68 degrees. Down in the South, it’s certainly feeling warmer. Dallas and Oklahoma City both hit impressive highs of 84 degrees, while Houston isn’t far behind at 80 degrees. Atlanta enjoys a pleasant 76 degrees, adding to the Southern warmth. In the West, Las Vegas pushes up to 73 degrees. In California, Los Angeles enjoys a mild 62 degrees, while San Francisco stays a bit cooler at 57 degrees.
Now for the low temperatures. The northern tier faces some chilly air, with Minneapolis dropping to 25 degrees, and Billings coming in at 31 degrees. Further south, Kansas City will see a low of 30 degrees, while Oklahoma City chills to 35 degrees. Denver is significantly colder at 27 degrees, and Salt Lake City registers 33 degrees. Moving towards the East Coast, Chicago wakes up to 32 degrees, while New York starts the day at 45 degrees. Washington, D.C., is warmer at 51 degrees, and Atlanta will have a low of 55 degrees. In the southern regions, Houston sits at 51 degrees, and Tampa will enjoy a milder start with a low of 58 degrees.
“Tomorrow’s high temperatures in the Northeast include New York reaching 63 degrees. Just to the south Washington, D.C. it will warmer at 75 degrees. Heading towards the Midwest, Chicago is expected to hit 61 degrees, and over in Minneapolis, temperatures will be slightly cooler, peaking at 40 degrees. The Southern Plains are forecasted to enjoy more seasonal conditions, with Dallas reaching a comfortable 65 degrees. Oklahoma City up to 52. Houston will see a warmer day, expecting a high of 82 degrees. The Southwest continues the trend with Phoenix hitting a pleasant 75 degrees. As we look westward, San Francisco will be cooler at 58 while Los Angeles is set for a lovely 69 degrees.”
“Over the next two days, a strong cold front will move through the Midwest towards the East Coast, bringing a mix of rain and snow from Chicago to New York. Expect potential snow accumulations as the system progresses, particularly in the higher elevations. In the Southeast, from Atlanta to Tampa, the atmosphere remains conducive for scattered thunderstorms, with a possibility of severe storms that may include strong winds and hail. On the West Coast, Northern California through Seattle should prepare for another round of rain showers, while high terrain could see snowfall impacting travel through mountain passes. Stay weather-aware, especially in areas under severe weather risks.”
