On the radar, the Pacific Northwest is experiencing rain showers from Seattle extending into the northern parts of the Rockies near Billings. This moisture is providing some much-needed hydration to the region. Meanwhile, the California coast, including San Francisco, stays clear today.
Moving into the Northern Rockies, snow showers are impacting higher elevations, particularly around Billings, where winter conditions persist. Strong winds in these mountain areas could lead to blowing snow and reduced visibility.
Across the Midwest, light rain is moving across Minneapolis and Chicago, with the heaviest precipitation expected to stay well north into Wisconsin.
In the Upper Northeast, snow and rain mix along the front stretches from New York into the areas northwest of Washington, D.C. The heaviest impacts are felt in upstate New York, where snow could slow down early morning commutes with slick conditions possible.
In the Southeast, humidity rises as rain showers begin to form over Georgia, trailing toward the Carolinas. This system is positioned to move eastward, bringing increasing cloud cover.
The Southern Plains, especially around Oklahoma City, are experiencing spotty rain showers, though most of Texas, including Dallas and Houston, remains dry at the moment with a mix of sun and clouds.
Today across America, we’re seeing a range of high temperatures that highlight some interesting contrasts. In the Northeast, New York reaches a pleasant 61 degrees, while Washington warms up significantly, hitting 69 degrees. Heading into the Southeast, Atlanta is slightly cooler at 72 degrees, but it’s a different story in Florida, where Tampa basks in 75 degrees.
As we move westward, temperatures climb higher, with Dallas experiencing a warm 84 degrees and Oklahoma City reaching 79. Further out in the Southwest, Phoenix sizzles at an impressive 85 degrees, making it the hottest spot in the region.
In the Northwest, Seattle remains on the chilly side at just 51 degrees, while San Francisco is a bit warmer with a high of 60. On the other hand, Denver sees a comfortable afternoon at 65 degrees, just slightly above Salt Lake City’s cooler 52.
Overall, today’s weather paints a picture of warmth in the southern half of the country, while the northern regions experience cooler temperatures.
Now for the low temperatures across the U.S. Expect quite the chill in the Northern Plains, with Minneapolis starting the day at a frigid 27 degrees and Chicago not far behind at 34 degrees. Further west, Billings will wake up to 44 degrees while Salt Lake City remains cooler at 43 degrees.
Heading south, Kansas City will see a morning low of 39 degrees, while Oklahoma City sits at 42 degrees. Dallas will have a relatively mild start at 51 degrees.
In the Southeast, Atlanta will drop to 55 degrees, while Miami remains much warmer at 60 degrees. Notably, places below freezing include Minneapolis at 27 degrees and Kansas City at 34 degrees.
High temperatures for tomorrow across the West are looking to be quite warm. In California, Los Angeles will hit 66 degrees, while San Francisco cools down to 58. Over in Nevada, Las Vegas is projected to see a warm 87 degrees, and Ely will be notably cooler at 64 degrees.
Moving northward, Salt Lake City should reach 64 degrees, while Denver will be slightly warmer at 68. Notably, temperatures across the Southwest are trending above average, influenced by a strong high-pressure system creating a warm and stable atmosphere. This warmth is expected to continue as we head into midweek.
“A strong system is set to move across the northern Plains with snow impacting Minneapolis by Tuesday morning. Expect accumulating snow with tricky travel conditions. Meanwhile, rain showers stretch from the Great Lakes down through the Ohio Valley, impacting cities like Chicago and Cleveland. A cold front will sweep through the Pacific Northwest bringing rain into Seattle and Portland, followed by clearing skies. In the Southwest, dry conditions prevail, but keep an eye on Los Angeles where coastal showers are possible by midweek. The Southeast remains calm, but the Northeast, including New York City and Washington D.C., should prepare for rain with potential snow mix as colder air filters in. Stay on alert for any weather warnings over the next 48 hours, particularly in areas expecting snow and rain.”
