Learn more about how these conditions could affect your plans and safety at https://amyfreeze.ai/ Here’s a snapshot of the Southeast region: Currently, the heaviest activity is centered over southern Florida, with thunderstorms sweeping through the Miami and Tampa areas, bringing possible severe weather conditions. As these storms head toward the northeast, Jacksonville is bracing for incoming rain and potential thunderstorms. The stretch from Atlanta to Charlotte is enjoying relatively clear skies, although clouds are slowly advancing eastward. New Orleans and Houston are basking in dry and calm conditions as they escape the rain this round.
Atlanta’s temperatures start at 64 degrees at 8 AM with a sunny outlook. By 10 AM, temperatures rise to 72 degrees with partly cloudy skies and a gentle west-northwest wind at 6 miles per hour. Approaching 12 PM, expect mostly cloudy conditions with temperatures reaching 76 degrees and winds from the west-northwest at 7 miles per hour.
Tomorrow Houston will lead with a sizzling high of 92 degrees, while New Orleans and Montgomery are both expected to reach 85 degrees. Atlanta’s high will be 83 degrees, closely followed by Jacksonville and Tampa, each hitting 90 degrees. Savannah is forecasting a warm 87, making it a summery day across much of the area. A dominating ridge of high pressure is driving this heat wave, contributing to the above-average readings.
Watch for strengthening storms as a cold front approaches the Southeast. Expect thunderstorms and heavy rainfall from Houston to Jackson tonight, potentially impacting travel. On Saturday, these storms will advance into Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Heavy rain could result in minor flooding in low-lying areas, so remain vigilant. Post-frontal passage, enjoy cooler temperatures and clearer skies across the region by late Saturday afternoon.
The UV index for Atlanta on Saturday will be very high at 10, with sun exposure risks necessitating sun protection; expect a quick burn time of just 12 minutes. On Sunday, the UV index will decrease to a high of 8, extending the burn time slightly to 17 minutes. It’s a great idea to wear sunscreen and protective clothing if you’ll be outdoors.
