Across the nation, from Seattle to Billings, the radar highlights sporadic rain, with the Pacific Northwest experiencing scattered showers. In the Midwest, Chicago is seeing a surge of rain, extending through the Great Lakes region into Minneapolis, which faces some intense storms. Kansas City and farther south around Oklahoma City have lighter showers, but significant storms could develop throughout the day. The East Coast from New York City to Washington, D.C. enjoys calm and clear skies, while Houston and Tampa remain dry.
Today, the Southwest is feeling exceptionally hot, with Phoenix hitting a blistering 105 degrees, the hottest city on the map. To the east, Dallas reaches a warm 96 degrees, while Houston is slightly cooler at 92. In the Southeast, Atlanta warms up to 91 degrees, contrasting with Tampa’s steamy high of 94. Up north, the Midwest sees more comfortable temperatures with Chicago and Minneapolis both reaching 82 degrees, providing a refreshing break from the heat elsewhere.
Now for the low temperatures. The Northeast will see a brisk start with New York at 72 degrees and Washington, D.C. slightly warmer at 73. In the Midwest, Chicago is forecasted to drop to 67 degrees, with Minneapolis a bit cooler at 64. Moving down to the South, Atlanta starts at 76 degrees, while Dallas and Houston are warmer, with lows of 77 and 79 degrees respectively.
Tomorrow will bring a significant rise in temperatures across the region, with several areas experiencing above-average conditions. Dallas is set to reach a high of 98 degrees, while Houston will see a warm 93 degrees. Atlanta is also in for a warm day at 91 degrees, closely aligned with seasonal norms. Tampa is expected to hit 95 degrees, contributing to a general trend of summer heat across the Southeast.
The Midwest is gearing up for a cold front pushing through from Kansas City to Chicago, bringing along strong storms and potential heavy rain. In the south, Dallas to Atlanta will need to be on guard for severe thunderstorms with risks of flooding as this system progresses. Expect a cool-down trailing the front across the Midwest, while the Northeast, including New York, braces for drizzle and rain showers extending into Washington, D.C. Calm and clear skies are expected on the West Coast, with Seattle remaining relatively dry against the usual trend.
