A line of severe storms is forming across the Midwest, particularly affecting Chicago with heavy rainfall and potential for severe thunderstorms. Farther south, Dallas and Oklahoma City are experiencing rain showers, with the potential for more intense weather as the system moves eastward. The Northern Plains near Minneapolis have scattered rain showers, providing a damp start to the day.
In the Pacific Northwest, Seattle remains under clear skies, with rain showers dissipating as they moved through just before dawn. Farther east, the northern Rockies around Billings are experiencing light rain, while Denver is dry.
Out east, precipitation is less intense, but Washington D.C. and New York are experiencing scattered rain, making for a wet commute. The Southeast remains largely clear with Atlanta seeing calm conditions. Small areas of rain are sweeping through the South, particularly around Houston.
Today’s national high temperatures show significant warmth across the South. In Texas, Dallas reaches a high of 78 degrees, while Houston matches that with 78 as well. However, down in San Antonio, the heat cranks up to an impressive 81 degrees. Over in Florida, Tampa enjoys a sunny 90 degrees, making it the warmest spot in the region. Meanwhile, a stark contrast is seen in the Northwest, where Seattle barely makes it to 65 degrees, feeling much cooler compared to the South. As we move into the Midwest, Chicago climbs to 76 degrees, while Minneapolis checks in at a comfortable 70 degrees.
Low temperatures across the U.S. are set to bring a chilly start tomorrow morning. In the Midwest, Minneapolis will be particularly cold at 44 degrees, while Chicago cools down to 49. Heading farther west, Billings sees a frigid low of 36 degrees, and Denver will be at 44. The South remains milder, with Dallas starting the day at 64 degrees and Houston at a warmer 73. The Northeast will feel the drop, with New York forecasted to hit 58 degrees and Washington, D.C., at 57.
Tomorrow, we anticipate a significant warm-up across the Southeast. Atlanta is expected to see a high of 74 degrees, while temperatures in Dallas will reach 82 degrees. Houston will be the warm spot, with a high of 85 degrees, well above average for this time of year. In New Orleans, temperatures will also climb to 82 degrees. Moving further east, Washington, D.C. will enjoy a pleasant 81 degrees, making it a beautiful day to be outside.
A cold front is set to sweep through the Midwest, bringing widespread rain to places like Minneapolis and Chicago by tomorrow afternoon. Expect thunderstorms to develop along this front, with a slight risk of severe storms capable of producing gusty winds and localized flooding. As the front progresses eastward, New York and Washington D.C. could see showers by late Thursday into Friday. A secondary disturbance will pass across the Northern Rockies, delivering light snow to higher elevations in the Montana and Wyoming regions. The Gulf Coast, from Houston to Tampa, should remain mostly dry, with warm temperatures persisting through Friday. In the Southwest, the weather pattern remains relatively stable with dry conditions and temperatures rising slightly above average. Finally, residents in the Pacific Northwest, including Seattle, should prepare for more rain as a new system approaches from the west by Friday morning.
