A series of rain showers is advancing across the Pacific Northwest, bringing significant precipitation to areas like Seattle, which is experiencing heavy rainfall at times. Moving eastward, the Rockies near Billings are engulfed in a mix of rain and snow, indicating a wintery pattern in the higher terrains. Denver, while mostly calm, is witnessing sporadic light rain showers.
Further east, the Midwest from Minneapolis to Chicago is under a relatively dry spell, with no significant weather disturbances. However, the southern region near Kansas City resounds with the rumblings of thunderstorms, possibly impacting outdoor plans. Oklahoma City remains predominately dry.
Intense rain bands stretch along the East Coast, particularly impacting the I-95 corridor from Washington D.C. to New York City. As the storms move out, rain will clear from Atlanta towards the southeast, giving way to calmer weather. Tampa experiences on-and-off rain showers, but conditions should improve going into the evening.
Southern Texas, including Houston, enjoys clearer skies, in stark contrast to Dallas, where rain showers are lightly trailing through. As the evening progresses, attention turns to any severe developments in these areas.
Today, we’re seeing some sizzling high temperatures across the Southern Plains. Dallas is heating up to an impressive 102 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the nation today. Meanwhile, Oklahoma City is not far behind with a high of 97 degrees. In contrast, the East Coast is experiencing milder conditions, with New York reaching just 65 degrees and Washington D.C. at 75.
Over in the Midwest, Minneapolis is enjoying a comfortable day with a high of 87 degrees, while Kansas City sits at a pleasant 90 degrees. Out west, temperatures are moderate, with Los Angeles hitting 68 degrees and Phoenix climbing to 85.
In our low temperature outlook for tomorrow morning across the U.S., we see some notable drops. Minneapolis will wake up to a brisk 34 degrees, while Billings dips even lower to 31 degrees, just below freezing. Further south, Denver cools down to 46 degrees. In the East, New York has a milder start at 62 degrees, but Washington, D.C. will see lows at 67 degrees. The southern states remain warm, with Dallas around 74 degrees. Expect a cooler morning in Oklahoma City at 61 degrees, signaling a shift in the air.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Central U.S. are expected to trend above average. Minneapolis will enjoy a warm high of 79 degrees, while Chicago climbs even higher to 89 degrees. Kansas City is looking at a balmy 84 degrees, maintaining that summer feel. Dallas will reach 91 degrees, making it a hotspot for the region. In contrast, the cooler side will be seen in Denver, where the high is only 70 degrees. As warm air continues to flow in, we can expect a few more humid days ahead.
Warm air pushing northward will drive possible severe weather over the Midwest. Strong thunderstorms are projected, especially over Minneapolis, where damaging winds and hail are a risk. A cold front moves into the Great Lakes region, bringing rain across Chicago and Detroit, leading to a soggy Friday commute. In the Northeast, urban areas stretching from New York City to Washington, D.C., anticipate thunderstorms with brief heavy downpours and gusty winds. Meanwhile, the Pacific Northwest, including Seattle, will experience persistent rain and cooler temperatures as a low-pressure system develops offshore. Further south, Dallas and Oklahoma City can expect clearer skies, with only isolated showers before the weather clears up. Denver and the Northern Rockies remain dry with plenty of sunshine, providing ideal conditions for outdoor activities.
