Across the Rockies, Denver remains pleasant with dry conditions throughout the morning. Farther east, heavy rain is impacting Minneapolis as a broad area of precipitation stretches through the Northern Plains. The Northeast experiences intense rain, particularly affecting New York City and Washington, D.C., posing challenges for commuters with potential flooding concerns.
Today, a significant heat wave blankets the southern U.S. with Phoenix reaching a sweltering 100 degrees, solidifying its status as the hottest city. A cold front will push through the Midwest, sparking severe thunderstorms from Kansas City to Chicago, with risks of damaging winds and localized flooding. As the system shifts south and east, places like Dallas and Atlanta should prepare for potential severe weather and heavy downpours. In the Pacific Northwest, Seattle can expect rain showers, while Southern California continues to enjoy dry and clear conditions.
