Across the nation, varied weather patterns are in play today. Starting in the Northwest, Seattle is experiencing light rain showers, while conditions are fairly dry through California with a few showers near San Francisco. The Rockies near Denver have intermittent precipitation, with a mix of rain showers intensifying in some mountain areas. A system across the Central Plains is creating scattered showers, with heavier precipitation just south of Denver and into western Kansas. Meanwhile, the Upper Midwest, particularly around Minneapolis, remains clear with no immediate precipitation concerns. In the East, there’s a large swath of rain impacting the Northeast, stretching through New York and into Boston, accompanied by some ice and snow in the higher altitudes of the Appalachians. This could impact travel especially in areas such as Buffalo and Albany. Farther south into the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, a broad band of rain moves through cities like Washington, D.C., and down through to the Carolinas. Atlanta stays mostly dry, but showers could approach as we move through the day. Jacksonville enjoys clearer skies, with precipitation remaining north of the city.
Today, we’re seeing some impressive warmth across many areas of the country. In the South, Houston is sizzling at a high of 85 degrees, while Dallas isn’t far behind at 83. Moving to the Southeast, Atlanta warms up to a pleasant 79 degrees, while Miami cranks it up to 92, making it one of the hottest spots in the region. To the North, Chicago is cooler at 61 degrees, contrasting with the 74 in New York. Out West, Los Angeles experiences a mild day with a high of 62, while Phoenix heats up significantly to 92, showcasing a stark temperature difference. Denver is much cooler at just 49 degrees, feeling a significant chill compared to the rest of the country.
The low temperatures for tomorrow morning show a significant chill across the nation. In the Midwest, expect a brisk 38 degrees in Chicago and a colder 35 in Minneapolis. Kansas City will dip to 40 degrees. Moving south, Oklahoma City cools down to 63, while Dallas starts at a mild 68 degrees. The East will see New York at 51 degrees and Washington, D.C. at 50 degrees. Notably, the Rocky Mountain region sees Denver at 47, highlighting a gradual drop into chillier air.
Tomorrow’s high temperatures across the Central U.S. are trending significantly above average for this time of year. Dallas is forecast to reach a warm 83 degrees, while Houston will be even warmer at 85 degrees. Farther north, Oklahoma City will see a pleasant high of 68 degrees. In contrast, Kansas City is expected to remain cooler at just 54 degrees. As we look eastward, Atlanta will enjoy a balmy 83 degrees, and temperatures in the Carolinas will also be above the seasonal norm.
Expect a dynamic weather situation with a strong cold front advancing across the central United States over the next 48 hours. This system will bring rain and thunderstorms from Kansas City down to Dallas, impacting daytime activities with potential severe thunderstorms, including damaging winds and possible hail. Meanwhile, the Midwest cities like Chicago and Minneapolis will see scattered showers as this system moves through. On the West Coast, a separate weather system will deliver rain showers to areas like San Francisco and Los Angeles, creating slick roads, particularly in higher elevations. In the Northeast, New York and Washington will experience light rain showers as another front approaches, potentially disrupting weekend plans. Across the Southeast, cities such as Atlanta and Tampa should brace for scattered storms with localized strong gusts. The Pacific Northwest, including Seattle and Billings, can anticipate a mostly dry weather pattern.
