Good day, weather enthusiasts! Amy Freeze here with your detailed U.S. weather update. Today, we see a mix of conditions—strong storms in the Southeast to serene skies in the Southwest. Each region presents a unique set of temperatures ranging from high nineties to near-freezing lows. Dive deeper into how these conditions forecast the week ahead and what measures to take to stay safe and prepared.
A sweeping line of rain showers is stretching from the central Rockies eastward across the Plains. Denver is currently experiencing consistent rain, which will soon move toward Omaha, bringing measurable precipitation. In the southern Plains, a potent band of severe storms is sweeping into Dallas, accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain. This line could potentially march toward Little Rock by this evening, resulting in disruptions.
The Midwest, from Kansas City to Chicago, is dealing with numerous rain showers moving eastward. Minneapolis is witnessing lighter showers, painting a wet picture across the Great Lakes region. Along the East Coast, Washington D.C. to New York City enjoys dry conditions at present, but clouds are building ahead of next week’s potential showers. In the Pacific Northwest, rain returns to Seattle, making for a wet commute. The Southwest holds calm with clear skies, as San Francisco and Los Angeles remain mostly dry today.
Good afternoon! Today, we’re seeing some impressive highs across the country. In the South, Miami is feeling the heat with a notable high of 90 degrees, while Orlando isn’t far behind at 89. The Southeast is warm as well, with Atlanta reaching 84, making it a pleasant day. Meanwhile, the Midwest is cooler, with Chicago only hitting 64 degrees. Out West, Phoenix sizzles with a scorching high of 90, while San Francisco remains mild at 67 degrees. Expect a mix of temperatures as we move into the evening, reflecting vibrant spring conditions across the nation.
Now for the low temperatures. Across the Midwest, expect Chicago to hit a chilly 48 degrees, while Minneapolis will be even colder at 46 degrees. Heading further west, Billings has a low of 39 degrees, and Denver drops to 40 degrees. In the Northeast, New York wakes up to 56 degrees with Washington not far behind at 68 degrees. Notably, Oklahoma City will be at 57 degrees, while Dallas sees a mild 65 degrees. However, areas across the northern plains will feel the chill, as temperatures approach freezing in several locations.
High temperatures for tomorrow are set to be above average across much of the Southeast. Atlanta will rise to a warm 83 degrees, while further south, Tampa is expected to reach a sweltering 89 degrees. In contrast, Dallas will see a high of 85 degrees, suggesting a trend of warmth moving through the region. Meanwhile, New Orleans will enjoy a pleasant 86 degrees, contributing to a mild and enjoyable day along the Gulf Coast. Memphis will remain comparatively cooler, with a high of 62 degrees, contrasting sharply with the more southern regions. The dominant weather pattern promoting this warmth is a strong ridge of high pressure influencing much of the area.
A cold front is advancing toward the Northeast, bringing rain showers that will extend from New York City to Washington, D.C. Expect these conditions to persist through tomorrow evening. The central U.S., especially around Chicago and Kansas City, will see pockets of rain with thunderstorms potentially developing, warranting weather watches in these areas. Heading down south, expect a mix of sun and clouds in Houston and Dallas, with some isolated showers as the instability lingers. Meanwhile, in the Pacific Northwest, the weather remains mostly calm with Seattle seeing just light rain showers. For the Southwest, areas near Denver could see light snow as temperatures drop significantly at higher elevations. Across the Southeast, from Atlanta to Tampa, scattered thunderstorms are anticipated, with a slight chance of severe weather and gusty winds. Keep an eye on local weather advisories, especially for those commuting or planning outdoor activities over the next 48 hours.
