The National Radar shows a dynamic pattern today, beginning with the West Coast. In the Pacific Northwest, Seattle is experiencing a mix of rain and strong winds as a robust weather system moves inland. This pattern extends into Montana with Billings getting scattered showers. Moving farther east, Denver enjoys a reprieve with calm conditions, but keep an eye on some potential precipitation looming west. Minneapolis is seeing snowfall and breezy conditions, part of a cold air surge impacting the Upper Midwest. This snowfall extends into parts of northern Wisconsin. In the Central U.S., a line of thunderstorms is over Illinois extending into Indiana, with heavy rainfall affecting Chicago and moving towards Michigan. Kansas City remains clear for now, though changes are possible as weather fronts approach. Shifting south, Dallas and Oklahoma City remain dry, but a few isolated rain showers are visible in northwestern Oklahoma. In the Southeast, expect a tumultuous afternoon as strong storms roll into Atlanta with heavy rain and potential flood alerts. Meanwhile, clouds are thickening over Washington, D.C., with precipitation likely later in the day. Overall, the biggest impact today comes from the strong storms around Chicago, creating a significant weather event with potential for localized flooding and severe storm warnings.
Today, temperatures are on the rise across many parts of the country. In the Southwest, Phoenix sizzles with a remarkable high of 87 degrees, while Los Angeles enjoys a pleasant 64 degrees—quite the contrast! Over in Texas, Dallas and Houston both hit a warm 82 degrees, skimming close to those warmer Southwest levels. In the Southeast, Atlanta reaches a comfortable 78 degrees, but just a little farther south, Tampa warms up to a balmy 82 degrees. Meanwhile, across the central region, Denver sees a high of 62 degrees, which is relatively mild for this time of year. As we move to the Northeast, temperatures take a dip, with New York peaking at 51 degrees and Washington, D.C. just above that at 58 degrees, showing a stark contrast to the warmer Southern states. Midwestern cities like Chicago are also cooler, with a high of only 47 degrees. This division in temperatures across the nation highlights some interesting patterns today, with the West and South basking in warmth, while much of the Northeast and Midwest remain cool.
Now for the low temperatures across the U.S. tomorrow morning. We’re looking at quite a chill in the Midwest, with Minneapolis dropping to 31 degrees, while Chicago hits the freezing mark at 32 degrees. Hamilton and Kansas City will see lows of 41 and 41 degrees, respectively. Moving to the East, New York will start the day at 42 degrees, and Washington, D.C. comes in at 45 degrees. In the Southeast, Atlanta is cooler at 45 degrees, while down in Florida, Tampa enjoys a mild 65 degrees. In the West, temperatures are more moderate, with Denver at 45 and Salt Lake City at 44 degrees. Looking at the desert, Phoenix remains mild at 56 degrees. Los Angeles has the same low.
For tomorrow, we can expect a notable warm-up across the region, with many areas seeing above-average high temperatures. In the Pacific Northwest, Seattle is forecasted to reach a high of 58 degrees, while further inland, Billings will warm nicely to 65 degrees. Heading south, Denver is looking at a pleasant day with temperatures peaking at 73 degrees. Meanwhile, in the southern plains, Dallas will enjoy a decidedly warmer high of 83 degrees, with Houston also feeling warm at 85 degrees. Moving out west, Los Angeles can expect a comfortable 70 degrees, while Las Vegas is hot at 95 degrees. Temperatures across the Midwest are trending cooler as well, with both Kansas City and Minneapolis only reaching the low 50s.
“A Pacific storm system is moving into the Northwest, bringing rain to Seattle and reaching down into San Francisco by late today. Some areas in Montana and the Dakotas will see snow showers, causing a wintry mix in Billings. Heavy snow blankets parts of the Northeast, with New York and Washington, D.C. experiencing lingering snow flurries. Areas from Chicago to Minneapolis are keeping dry with mild temperatures as a high-pressure system holds strong. Meanwhile, more tranquil skies dominate the Southern Plains, including Dallas and Houston, where temperatures stay steady for now. However, a cold front may bring cooler air into areas like Atlanta by tomorrow afternoon.”
