Starting in the Pacific Northwest, showers are sweeping through Seattle, bringing much-needed moisture to the region. Moving eastward, snow is blanketing areas around Billings, Montana, extending into parts of the Northern Rockies.
The central United States features lighter precipitation, but keep an eye on the Minneapolis area, where snow is adding a layer of winter white. This snow stretches across the Great Lakes and into the Northeast, with New York experiencing snow upstate today with just drizzle in New York City.
In the Southern Plains, skies are quieter, with the exception of some rain in the Oklahoma City vicinity. A line of severe storms is making its way across the southeastern part of the country, extending from Dallas through Houston, and onward to Atlanta. These storms are heavy, especially around Atlanta, potentially impacting travel.
Farther east, rain showers are pushing through the Carolinas, while the Tampa area in Florida is experiencing clearer skies. Stay alert if you’re in or around the regions with heavier weather activity today.
Today across the nation, we’re seeing quite a range of temperatures. In the southeast, it’s a warm day for many with Atlanta hitting a pleasant 67 degrees, while further south in Tampa, it climbs to 81 degrees, making it one of the hottest spots in the region.
Heading to Texas, Dallas reaches a high of 82 degrees, and Houston is even warmer at 85 degrees, showcasing what feels like early summer.
In the central part of the country, Oklahoma City reports a mild 78 degrees, while Kansas City is cooler at 66 degrees.
Over in the Midwest, temperatures drop significantly, with Chicago only managing a chilly 49 degrees and Minneapolis even cooler at 48 degrees.
Out west, Phoenix soars to 95 degrees, while Los Angeles enjoys a comfortable 67 degrees.
Now for the low temperatures across the U.S. tomorrow morning. A frigid start in the northern Plains with Minneapolis at 31 degrees and Chicago facing a freezing low of 30 degrees. Kansas City will cool down to 40, while further east, Washington, D.C. expects a low of 42 degrees.
Moving south, Atlanta sees a low of 50 degrees and Dallas checks in at 62. Over in the West, Denver will have a morning low of 41, with Salt Lake City slightly cooler at 46. On the West Coast, Los Angeles will rest at 55 degrees, and San Francisco reaches 53.
High temperatures for tomorrow in the Southwest are set to soar, particularly in Arizona where Phoenix will hit a blistering 99 degrees. Las Vegas isn’t far behind, with highs reaching 90 degrees. In Southern California, Los Angeles will enjoy a pleasant 66 degrees, while San Diego sees a warmer 77 degrees.
The state of Nevada will experience notable warmth as well. Elsewhere in the Southwest, temperatures in Utah will stay mild, with Salt Lake City reaching 69 degrees and Denver at 71 degrees. It’s important to note that the high pressure dominating the area is fueling these warmer-than-usual conditions.
“In the Pacific Northwest, Seattle anticipates persistent rain with cooler air settling in, while Northern California will see scattered showers tapering off towards San Francisco by late Wednesday. Across the Northern Plains, Billings may experience light snow, indicating a shift towards colder temperatures as the system progresses eastward. The Midwest, including Minneapolis and Chicago, should prepare for windy conditions as a result of this influence, whilst light rain is expected over Kansas City. Farther south, Dallas and Oklahoma City are bracing for thunderstorms and potential severe weather, especially towards Wednesday night as a result of a cold front moving through. Eastern cities such as Atlanta, Washington D.C., and New York can expect cloudy skies with rain showers, with New York experiencing a potential downpour into Thursday. Stay alert to quickly changing conditions as this front progresses.”
