On today’s national radar, we’re seeing a mix of weather systems progressing across the United States. The Pacific Northwest, particularly around Seattle, is grappling with damp conditions as light rain showers move in from the ocean. Montana, especially in and around Billings, is experiencing a mix, indicating some wintry precipitation. Moving east, Denver enjoys a clear day, but further north, Minneapolis is seeing significant rain, which could result in heavier showers throughout the day. This precipitation stretches east, impacting the Upper Midwest and into Chicago, though the Windy City is currently on the dry side. Oklahoma City sees scattered clouds but largely remains dry, whereas Dallas and Houston bask in clearer skies. Meanwhile, a cluster of strong thunderstorms is active along the eastern seaboard, impacting areas from New York through Washington, D.C. Heaviest rain bands are currently soaking the nation’s capital, posing potential challenges for commuters. Lastly, Atlanta and Tampa remain largely quiet as they anticipate a cloudier afternoon. Stay weather-aware, especially if you’re in areas facing heavy rain!
Good afternoon, everyone! Today, we’re seeing quite the range in high temperatures across the country. In the Southeast, Houston is heating up to a sizzling 93 degrees, setting the pace for the region. Dallas will warm up to a comfortable 88 degrees, while Atlanta is slightly cooler at 86 degrees. Up north in Chicago, we’ve got a steamy high of 89 degrees, which is impressive for this time of year. Meanwhile, in the West, Los Angeles is sitting at a pleasant 68 degrees, a stark contrast to the sweltering temperatures further inland such as Phoenix reaching 90 degrees. Overall, expect a mix of pleasant and hot conditions as we head into the evening!
Now for the low temperatures. The Northern Plains and Midwest will see some sharp drops, with Minneapolis dipping to 44 degrees and Billings at a chilly 45 degrees. Heading to the Great Lakes, Chicago will start the day at 53 degrees, while Kansas City rests at 55. The Southeast remains milder, with Atlanta starting at 71 degrees, but temperatures will fall below freezing in the northern reaches, with lows of 31 degrees in parts of Michigan. On the West Coast, Seattle will wake up to a cool 50 degrees, and Los Angeles will be warmer at 59 degrees.
High temperatures for tomorrow will see a significant warm-up across the region. Washington, D.C. is expected to reach 87 degrees, while New York will have a comfortable high of 72. Atlanta will also be warm, with a forecast high of 89 degrees. Further south, temperatures soar in Florida, where Tampa is set to hit 92 degrees. Meanwhile, Dallas will see a warm high of 90 degrees, supported by incoming warm air from the southwest. Overall, most areas are experiencing above-average temperatures, signaling a clear shift towards summer-like conditions.
A cold front is set to sweep across the Upper Midwest, moving through Minneapolis and into the Great Lakes region by late tomorrow. Expect cooler temperatures as the front progresses eastward. In the Southeast, Dallas and Atlanta are likely to experience thunderstorms, with the possibility of strong winds and heavy rainfall. The central Plains, including Kansas City, may see showers develop as an active weather pattern persists. In the Northeast, New York and Washington, D.C. will remain relatively calm, with mild temperatures before potential storms approach from the west later. The Pacific Northwest and Seattle will continue to face rain showers and overcast skies, while the Southwest, including Los Angeles, enjoys drier conditions. Be prepared for shifting weather patterns over the next two days.
