Currently, the western United States is mostly clear, with Seattle and San Francisco experiencing a respite from precipitation. Light rain is making its way into the northern plains, with showers approaching Billings. Denver is clear for the moment but watch for increasing cloudiness later in the day.
The most significant weather impact is over the Midwest, where a strong storm system is creating heavy precipitation. Minneapolis and Chicago are experiencing intense thunderstorms with potential for localized flooding. This system brings widespread rains, and places like Kansas City are experiencing moderate to heavy downpours.
In the South, there’s scattered rain around Dallas, moving eastward towards the lower Mississippi Valley. Houston and the Gulf Coast remain relatively dry at this time. Meanwhile, the Southeast, including Atlanta, is bracing for incoming rain showers later today, with the potential for brief thunderstorms. The eastern seaboard, from Washington to New York, is generally dry with increasing cloud cover expected into the evening.
Good afternoon! Today, we’re seeing some significant temperature differences across the country. In the Southwest, Phoenix sizzles with a high of 92 degrees, making it the hottest spot of the day. Heading to the Southeast, both Houston and Dallas hit a warm 85 degrees, while Atlanta is slightly cooler, reaching 81. Meanwhile, the Northeast experiences milder conditions with New York at 66 degrees and Washington, D.C. warmer at 83. Out West, Seattle is pleasantly cool at 74 degrees, while Denver struggles with only 58. Overall, it’s a mix of warmth and coolness as we move into the afternoon!
Here are the low temperatures for tomorrow morning across the U.S. In the Midwest, Minneapolis is set for a chilly 38 degrees, while Chicago cools down to 44. The Northeast will see New York waking up to 64 degrees, but further north, Boston dips to a brisk 48 degrees. Moving to the South, Atlanta will have a low of 62 degrees, while Dallas encounters cooler air at 54 degrees. The Rockies are experiencing a significant drop; Denver will start the day at just 42 degrees, and Salt Lake City follows closely at 47. In the Pacific Northwest, Seattle is anticipated to reach 47 degrees.
Tomorrow’s high temperatures are set to bring a mix of slightly above-average warmth in some areas of the region. Houston will enjoy a comfortable high of 83 degrees, while Dallas is expected to reach 71 degrees, staying near seasonal norms. Austin can anticipate a warm high of 86, showing a slight uptick. Meanwhile, San Antonio will see a high of 79 degrees. In contrast, the colder air holds firm in Oklahoma City, where temperatures could peak at only 70 degrees. Overall, the region is experiencing a pleasant spring day, with warm air dominating.
A robust low-pressure system will traverse the Great Plains, triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms across Oklahoma City and into Kansas City. The risk of severe weather is elevated, with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible, extending through Dallas. Cold air trailing the front will lead to a swift temperature drop across the central plains by Wednesday. The Pacific Northwest remains entrenched in a rainy pattern, with persistent showers from Seattle to Billings, while dry conditions prevail across the Southwest. Attention should be drawn to the East Coast, where a cold front will produce substantial precipitation from Atlanta to New York City, potentially impacting morning commutes. Snowfall is anticipated in higher elevations around Denver, bringing winter-like conditions back to the Rockies. Meanwhile, the Northeast will remain mostly cloudy with intervals of sunshine for a relatively mild start to the week.
