A busy weather day is in motion. A storm front sweeps through the heartland, bringing thunderstorms from Kansas City down to Dallas. The storms are strongest near Oklahoma City, prompting a need for vigilance in these areas due to potential severe storm warnings. Atlanta and the surrounding areas are caught in a rain band extending to the Carolinas, with heightened rainfall over Georgia leading towards the Atlantic Coast. For the Pacific Northwest, rain is roaring across Seattle, with showers pushing into parts of Eastern Washington and Oregon. Heading south, California remains dry, offering a pleasant break for San Francisco and Los Angeles amidst ongoing clear skies. The Northern Rockies, near Billings, are experiencing light showers, while Minneapolis sees scattered raindrops moving through the area. On the east coast, Washington D.C. and New York face on and off rain showers, marking a day of scattered showers for the northeast corridor. The Midwest, including Chicago, enjoys a break from precipitation.
Today, in the Southwest, Phoenix is heating up to a sizzling 94 degrees, while Los Angeles remains much cooler at just 63. Over in the Midwest, Kansas City reaches a pleasant 78 degrees, contrasting sharply with Minneapolis, where the high is only 50. The Northeast is experiencing a warm day as well, with Washington, D.C. soaring to 88, while New York lags slightly behind at 83. Down South, Dallas and Houston report highs of 86 and 92 degrees respectively.
Now for the low temperatures, Minneapolis will drop to a chilly 41 degrees, while Chicago sees lows around 43 degrees. Farther west, Denver will cool down to 47 degrees, and Salt Lake City dips to 42. Heading to the South, Atlanta will experience a low of 39 degrees, while New Orleans is a milder 46. The East Coast stays relatively warm, with lows of 58 in New York and 60 in Washington, D.C. Parts of the Northern Plains are expected to fall below freezing, including Billings at 33 degrees, making for a brisk start in that region.
High temperatures for tomorrow across the Midwest are looking to peak above average as a warming trend continues. Minneapolis will reach a pleasant 63 degrees, while Chicago sees a high of 68 degrees. Further south, Kansas City could hit 81 degrees, and St. Louis is expected to warm up to a balmy 83. Indianapolis will enjoy a nice 78-degree day. Detroit will be cooler at 72 degrees, but still within a comfortable range.
A dynamic weather pattern is unfolding over the Plains and the Midwest with a strong cold front triggering storms from Kansas City to Minneapolis. Expect heavy rain, gusty winds, and a potential for isolated severe thunderstorms. The system will push eastward, bringing a heightened risk of more significant storms into Chicago by late Tuesday. Denver is set to see clearer skies, transitioning to mild conditions after the rain passes through. The Southeast remains relatively quiet with warm temperatures and scattered cloud cover. In the Pacific Northwest, Seattle will encounter intermittent showers due to an onshore flow, keeping temperatures cooler. San Francisco will enjoy mild weather with a mix of clouds and sunshine as high pressure dominates the region. Enjoy the Weekend.
